Fae & Fauna - Character Control Rig

During my internship at Aurora Arts I worked on their upcoming game called Fae & Fauna.

The things I did during my internship was:
*Control rig
*Animation
*Technical animation
*Cleaning up animations

I wanted to focus on doing most of my work inside Unreal Engine 5.4 which I got to do. The reason for doing my own custom made control rig and not using the modular one inside the engine is because I wanted to learn how to do it myself but also have the freedom to add facial rig controllers. In the future if you want, you'll have the possibility to add more controllers that will make it easier for the animators. If you look at the hand, you can use the arrows to make a closed fist faster. Another reason why I wanted to do my animations and rigs inside Unreal, is because I wanted to save myself from the trouble of exporting animations from a software into an engine, it's so conveniently to do everything inside Unreal.

Another reason why I wanted to make the control rig is because I didn't know how to do rigs and animation in Blender. Most of the animations were made in Blender but have become a bit broken when the company decided to switch from Unity to Unreal. So I started my first weeks just to make the control rig to be able to later clean up a lot of animations.

I had very fun and learnt soo much at my internship. Would definitely recommend! :)

Showcasing the custom made control rig.

The reason for making my own control rig is to have more freedom as in to be able to add facial controllers and more.

Did my own function for backwardsolve.

Example on how to clean an existing animation using the control rig.
